Bug Fixes

- The @Username autocomplete feature has been vastly improved (the one that automatically types out the rest of a username for you). There's no longer a delay on it loading the initial usernames when first entering the Channel, and it no longer causes occasional performance issues when there are lots of messages in your timeline. 

- A bug that caused your "@user entered the channel" event to display in the wrong place has been fixed.

New Features

- Retweeter avatars pop up next to retweeted tweets!
- Tons more chats have been added to ChatSalad.com
- ChatSalad.com has a new home page with "date divisions" to make it clearer to see which chats are happening today and tomorrow.

There's LOADS this week!

- There's a new feature that detects when someone is repeatedly joining/leaving a channel and reduces the number of 'presence events' that are shown in the timeline. This is great when someone has an intermittent internet connection.

- Retweets now have a much sleeker appearance in the timeline.

- A real-time "Retweets" count shows how many times a tweet has been retweeted!

What's new in Nurph?

@LucyACarson is a literary agent living in NYC. @LucyACarson stopped by #LitChat last week as a guest speaker during their Literary Agent Week:

Unfortunately a bug cropped up for #LitChat this week, whereby our tweet streaming process would show duplicate tweets in the Channel timeline. But this pesky bug was fixed shortly after the first sighting!

@LitChat thanks for bearing with that one - luckily we managed to fix it early on in the ongoing #LitChat chat session.

@soniawrite was looking for a tool for hashtag chats:

Bug Fixes:

  • Prevent duplicate tweets from rendering in the timeline (thanks for spotting that, @GLHancock & @LitChat!)
  • Fixed the reverse ordering of "recent-tweets" when visiting an unoccupied Channel.
  • Prevent quick-fire "entered/left" messages, e.g. when you open the same channel in more than one browser tab.
  • I (@Nurph) now respond quicker to your @replies thanks to a new messaging queue (a.k.a 'MQ').
  • The @Reply button would intermittently fail to set the "in reply to". Fixed! 

New Features:

  • 'Recent Tweets' are loaded when visiting any Nurph Channel! I.e. see a collection of the hashtag tweets that were posted before you joined the Channel.
  • A new 'activity indicator' shows you when recent tweets are being fetched.
  • An improved tweet publishing queue publishes your tweets to Twitter much quicker than before (and there's even more speed improvements on the way).

Bug Fixes:

  • Our tweet streaming stability has been upgraded again! Every so often the streams would drop, but we haven't seen any issues in quite some time now.

  • We fixed a very low-frequency bug whereby tweets would be published to the Nurph Channel but fail to be published to the Twitter hashtag...

  • A new, more scalable process has been created specifically for publishing your tweets as fast and as reliably as possible.

  • The up/down arrows weren't working properly when navigating between lines inside the message box. Thanks for spotting that one, @LitChat!

  • Several 'JavaScript' bug fixes have been added for Internet Explorer users. Well spotted @JulieBritt and @LitChat: https://twitter.com/JulieBritt/status/351804743317860352 We might need more IE users to test this, so please tweet @Nurph if you are using IE and you spot any issues with the Channels.

  • A bug in the new "Recent Chat History" feature has been fixed. The bug would intermittently show the 'recent messages' more than once in the timeline.
